Ross works as expert domestic and foreign affairs contributor to Skynews Australia, for whom he currently co-hosts “Outsiders” on Sunday mornings and appears as a panelist on “Paul Murray Live”.

Ross has written 70 opinion pieces for the Sydney Morning Herald, ABC The Drum online and the Australian newspaper. He has provided comment and analysis for ABC The Drum and Radio 702 and was a regular panelist opposite Kevin Rudd on Channel 7, Sunrise when both were backbenchers in the Federal Parliament.

Ross won the seat of Parramatta in the Federal Parliament at the age of 29 in 1996 and served three terms during the Howard era, including as Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, Hon Peter Costello.

Before running for office Ross worked as:

  • adviser to the NSW Minister for Sydney’s Olympic Bid;
  • staffer to United States Senator Mark Hatfield (R- Or);
  • Associate to the Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea,
  • Solicitor at Blake Dawson Waldron.

Ross worked in investment banking for Macquarie Group from January 2005 to August 2008 focusing on government procurement and finance for infrastructure projects.

Since then, together with his media commitments, Ross has been involved in various start-up ventures including, most recently, co-founding www.parkmonkey.com.au. Parkmonkey is a car park sharing IT platform/App which connects parkers to under utilized commercial car parks.

Ross has a B.Ec and LLB from Sydney University.
